Young Construction Modern Masterpiece

Located in Montecito, this project exhibits a high degree of transparency with its floor to ceiling glass walls and glass stairways. The 6000 sq. ft. home was designed by Santa Barbara architect James McClintock and built by Young Construction. The owners of this home luxuriate in spectacular views and natural lighting from almost every angle.

The original home sat directly on the street, offering little privacy. The couple’s goal was to design a modern home utilizing the concept of bringing the outside in—a style that embraces Southern California’s year-round pleasant climate.  The conceptualized plan transformed the existing structure into an enclosed entrance in the front with the back open to take advantage of the hillside views. Local architect Jim McClintock refined his clients’ vision, adding exterior steps, reconfiguring the entry, and reworking the interior floor plan.

“Our team was definitely challenged by this project. Amazing clients, coupled with the talents of architect James McClintock, helped our team build an exceptional project,” states Young Construction owner, Bob Young.

Stone floors quarried from Italy, concrete walls, and exposed steel framing, are some of the most prevailing features of this home and give it its sophisticated style.

Absolutely stunning and unlike any ordinary staircase, the structure is made of glass and dramatically illuminated.

Sleek and sophisticated, the kitchen’s brilliantly finished cabinets and bright tile backsplash add a burst of color to the palette of the home.

Filled with natural lighting, the bedroom’s glass sliding doors lead to an outdoor patio revealing endless views.

Balanced with the rest of the home, the elements of the bathroom consist of glass, including the sinks and shelving – a superb functional space or a quiet refuge

In the wine cellar, the ceiling and walls of the space express the home owner’s artful taste, and accommodates a tranquil wine retreat.

“At Young Construction we understand the art of fine home building- the need for flexibility, for creative solutions and for good relationships- all working together to successfully complete a project. Our aptitude for design, combined with 30 years of experience, provides for a thoughtful approach to building that is apparent in our work and reflected in our reputation.”

Bob Young and his brother David, along with the team at Young Construction, have been committed to building quality custom homes in Santa Barbara for nearly four decades. Their personal involvement in each project along with their detail oriented approach and cost effective construction solutions continue to produce award-winning homes and quality commercial projects for their clients.
