Santa Barbara's guide to what's new and undiscovered for home and garden, entertaining, style and travel. The resource guide below lists local happenings, boutique finds, travel destinations, food artisans and design professionals.

The Landsby Hotel in Solvang

The Landsby is the newest and most innovative hotel in Solvang, CA. This stunning 41-room boutique hotel offers warm hospitality and refined, stylish accommodations with a hint of traditional Scandinavian aesthetic. DMHA Architecture + Interior Design of Santa Barbara and Studio Collective, Los Angeles spearheaded the recent renovation.

The completely remodeled, bright and open guestrooms are finished with blonde woods, brushed brass accents, and elegant but comfortable hand-crafted furnishings complete with updated bathrooms, 47-inch flat-screen HDTVs, minibars, and stunning artwork commissioned from regional artists.

Beautifully designed to capture the essence of the Scandinavian style with warm contemporary design elements that enhance the residential feel of the guestrooms.

Dining options at The Landsby include a warm and welcoming lobby bar serving traditional and craft cocktails, beer and acclaimed locally produced wine. Mad & Vin (food & wine in Danish) overlooks the lovely courtyard garden and features seasonal ingredients from the California Central Coast, with wine-country cuisine flavors.

With more than 13 years of experience in the culinary world, Executive Chef Seth Michael Nathan joined The Landsby team in February 2015 to help develop and launch Mad & Vin, the boutique inn’s signature restaurant. Chef Nathan’s culinary expertise in global cuisine was developed through years of travel and time spent living in Northern Spain and Southern France. The restaurant’s menu captures flavors from around the world and incorporates them into foods native to the California Central Coast.

Mad & Vin, which translates to “food and wine” in Danish, offers wine country cuisine crafted from the bounty of ingredients native to California’s Central Coast. The menu is largely inspired by the area’s surrounding landscape, while also relating to both Chef Nathan’s personal heritage and the Danish culture that is indicative to Solvang.

The Landsby is an ideal retreat for meetings with multiple venues. The residential-style Private Dining room overlooks the courtyard for intimate gatherings. Two additional meeting rooms provide more traditional settings for business meetings and social gatherings.
