The Gallery Montecito

The fresh, modern, charmingly minimalist gallery provides a venue for future exhibits for a variety of world renown and highly acclaimed established artists as well as an opportunity to showcase emerging artists in a variety of mediums.

The quality and psychological drama of Dalva Duarteʼs paintings have established her as one of the most important painters of her generation. The selection of paintings currently on display at The Gallery, Montecito reflect the magical realism of Latin America and the inexhaustible source of traditional art found in European and American museums.

Duarte is a global artist in the sense that she has lived and worked on three continentand draws her inspiration from many cultures. Dalva Duarte is part of a rare contingent of artists who have the talent, audacity, compassion and courage to create an engaging repertoire of paintings that demonstrate the human condition. Each canvas becomes a labyrinth of ideas and experiences making it hard to separate a dream from reality. She has mastered the combination of impressionism, cubism and surrealism in an energetic blend of styles that attract, captivate and mystify the viewer, compelling us to question and look deeper than the surface of the canvas.

Duarte has exhibited her work in a myriad of museums and galleries internationally, including Nordart International Art Exhibition, Schleswig-holstein, Germany, Grand Palais, Paris, Art Miami, Museum of Coral Springs, Florida, Musee de Luxumbourg and Musee de Rouen.

Chinese/American artist Eros Zhao is a multi-talented creator of Ink & Oil-paintings, calligraphy, prints, sculptures, porcelain and metal casting. He draws upon a background of experience in fashion designing, filmaking, curating, education and collecting to create thoughtful and diverting artwork. Presently showing his ʻDuiʼ series of scrolls at the Gallery, these paintings include a variety of materials from Chinese rice paper, silk, ink and natural pigments. Their basis is the Ying and Yang philosophy from the I Ching, where in this case he is attempting to show the relationship between figures and water and allowing the viewer to decide upon the nature of each characters predicament.

Loree Rodkin Jewelry Design – This Global Nomad has had three immensely successful careers. Rodkin, born in Chicago, was raised on a heavy diet of aesthetics. Her three careers have ranged from designing the homes of rock stars, Alice Cooper, Rod Stewart amongst a host of other rock glitterati. She then became a talent manager, launching the careers of young unknowns — Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr. and Sarah Jessica Parker to name just a few.

Loree’s passion for making jewelry landed her Elizabeth Taylor as her first client. Since those early days Rodkin has gone on to design intricate pieces for such icons as Madonna, Steven Tyler, Elton John, Cher and countless others. She also had the honor of designing First Lady Michelle Obama’s inaugural jewelry; those pieces now reside in the SMITHSONIAN’S permanent collection.

Rodkin’s attention to detail is what you notice first in her handmade couture pieces. Her unique use of diamonds, platinum, gold and precious stones are inspired by her world travels. Today, many of Loree’s forward-thinking designs encompass her growing fine jewelry business empire that has expanded to fragrance, handbags and eye couture.
