The quality and psychological drama of Dalva Duarteʼs paintings have established her as one of the most important painters of her generation. The selection of paintings currently on display at The Gallery, Montecito reflect the magical realism of Latin America and the inexhaustible source of traditional art found in European and American museums.
Duarte is a global artist in the sense that she has lived and worked on three continentand draws her inspiration from many cultures. Dalva Duarte is part of a rare contingent of artists who have the talent, audacity, compassion and courage to create an engaging repertoire of paintings that demonstrate the human condition. Each canvas becomes a labyrinth of ideas and experiences making it hard to separate a dream from reality. She has mastered the combination of impressionism, cubism and surrealism in an energetic blend of styles that attract, captivate and mystify the viewer, compelling us to question and look deeper than the surface of the canvas.
Duarte has exhibited her work in a myriad of museums and galleries internationally, including Nordart International Art Exhibition, Schleswig-holstein, Germany, Grand Palais, Paris, Art Miami, Museum of Coral Springs, Florida, Musee de Luxumbourg and Musee de Rouen.
