The Farmhouse in Sonoma Wine Country

Spend a romantic wine country vacation at The Farmhouse and enjoy all the warmth and hospitality of a family owned bed and breakfast inn coupled with all of the services and amenities of a AAA 4-Diamond luxury boutique hotel. Surrounded by the towns of Healdsburg, Santa Rosa and the Sonoma Coast, the internationally-acclaimed Inn, restaurant and spa offers something for everyone.

The Farmhouse in is located in Forestville, California (just 1 1/2 hours north of San Francisco) , the hub of the Russian River Valley, and minutes from hundreds of wineries and world-class restaurants.

Your dream vacation might include wine tasting through the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, romantic fine dining at some of the most impressive restaurants in the world, hiking in the Armstrong Redwoods or cycling the routes of the Amgen Tour, or visiting a few art galleries and boutiques. Farmhouse Inn’s team of concierges will take pleasure in assuring that your wine country experience is exceptional.

Owned and managed by lodging industry trendsetters, Farmhouse Inn realizes the ever-evolving vision of brother/sister team, Joe and Catherine Bartolomei. Fifth generation farmers, winery and vineyard owners, their vision for Farmhouse is to invite guests to share their Sonoma County lifestyle.  “Anyone can have a wine country vacation; Farmhouse Inn guests can have a total wine country experience,” says Catherine.

“It’s not just about luxury, although that’s key too, it’s about authenticity. It’s about meeting our friends; winemakers, chefs and artists… and, making them your own. Whether you fly in on your own jet or you cycled in on your bike, our concierge team will hand-craft an insiders’ experience that will leave you wanting more.”

Hot cider, a good book in front of the fireplace, hiking, biking, wine tasting, hot air ballooning, shopping…after exploring Sonoma and the wine country, why not indulge in a spa treatment? Completely relax while receiving a Muscle Soother massage at the Farmhouse Inn Spa, then sip a glass of wine poolside or in front of your private outdoor fireplace or out by the fire pit.

Relax by the pool or enjoy spa services on the grounds, just steps away from your cottage. Many of the rooms have a sauna, fireplace and soaking tub.

Michelin starred Chef Steve Litke creates menus using the incredible diversity of local agriculture and artisan producers, with a consistent focus on organic and sustainably farmed fruits and vegetables. Their chefs create dishes that rely entirely on what is seasonal and at its peak.

In spring it’s all about local, wild salmon from the nearby Sonoma coast, baby lamb from the farmer up the road, pea shoots from the chef’s garden and fava beans from a Healdsburg neighbor. Summer brings heirloom tomatoes and herbs from the Bartolomei ranch, just down the road and fresh cheeses from the local goat dairy.

A decadent, two-course breakfast, dreamed up and prepared by Catherine and breakfast chef Trevor Boosinger, is served to guests in the Farmhouse dining room overlooking the inn gardens, or out on the patio. Breakfast starts with house-made pastry and fruit. Hot scones, full of blackberries from the garden or flaky sweet cream biscuits slathered with house-made Meyer lemon curd or Sonoma organic lavender honey, may be the pastry of the day.

Entrees are farm-fresh, too and simply delicious.  Eggs Benedict, Farmhouse Breakfast Farmhouse-style, with eggs fresh from the Bartolomei farm, locally smoked ham and fluffy hollandaise is a Farmhouse favorite.  If you like something a bit sweeter, try their signature French Toast with Mascarpone cheese and poached orchard pears, served with organic maple syrup and locally made chicken and apple sausages. The menu offers something different each day of your stay.
