LUA recently completed this 3,200 sf sleek contemporary home in Montecito with some great green building elements. Award-winning DesignARC was the architect on the project; the client was the interior designer. The home integrates a full array of solar panels, high efficiency heating and air conditioning units, high R-value insulation and door/window glazing, along with many responsibly sourced materials.
Ipe wood siding and trellises, white oak wood flooring, hand formed micro-bevel interior plaster corners, custom slot HVAC registers are featured in the main living spaces, as well as top of the line Miele appliances, custom cabinetry and a wireless lighting controls system.
A LouvreTec shading system designed for the south terrace serves to shield the home from the heat of the sun in the summer months and the operable louvre blades open to allow the warmth of the sun to heat the house in cooler winter months.
The landscape was designed by Jessica Harlin of Barefoot Design and is mostly drought tolerant and mindful of the high-fire area where this home is located. The project also features a bocce ball court and an integral color concrete driveway.
Here’s what the homeowners had to say about the experience:
“Our new home is a modest contemporary; smaller in scope than a typical LUA project. Even with our scale and design, there was enthusiasm and attention to detail with every aspect our project. The team lived up to a reputation of being first class in service and execution, and stood firm in the belief that the highest standards are nothing less than acceptable. Working through the design build process with LUA gave us the assurance that we were making smart decisions and the result is a home that we love. Family friendly service is rare in today’s world, and we have the best of the best in our own community.”
