Jewelry Inspired by India at Lily in Montecito

Jyotsna Singh, the gifted granddaughter of  the late Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, inherited her grandfather’s passion for jewelry and carries forth the royal legacy with her international brand of jewelry. Her jewelry is inspired by the beauty of the royal Jadau designs, jewelry that reminisces of a bygone era of royal palaces and princely extravagance. Its versatile beauty is still relevant as it intertwines the classic in the hues of contemporary design.

Jyotsna Singh’s designs are a unique and exciting collection of semi-precious fusion jewelry: classic art deco style complimented by intricately crafted oriental motifs using semi-precious stones set in gold plated silver. Her fascination with jewelry started at an early age as she was exposed to the magnificence of the family jewels. Her jewelry borders on the contemporary, blending generations of exquisite intricate design in materials that make them more wearable and affordable.

She carries with her a royal legacy that is famed for its opulence and allure. Jyotsna’s grandfather, the late Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, was the proud owner of the Patiala necklace, considered one of the most spectacular pieces of jewelry ever created and the largest commission that Cartier has ever executed.

Jyotsna prefers to work with semi precious stones because of the variety of colors she can use and still keep it relatively affordable.

Her collections include many statement pieces in a myriad of colours that capture the imagination with string combinations of aquamarine, citrine, rotile, amethyst, lapis, turquoise, carnelian and many more. She uses the soft colors of rose quartz, aventurine, green amethyst and pearls with a combination of the strong colors that come with Turquoise, Lapis and Labrodorite.

“I find myself inspired by something that brings on a plethora of new designs. Occasionally, when I am designing, I do not recognize the end piece – it emerges;  working with the stones becomes a spiritual experience for me,” Jyotsna comments. “I prefer to work with semi precious stones because of the variety of colors I can use, and still keep it affordable.” Her pieces adorn and compliment all ages and lifestyles. Jyotsna showcases her jewelry locally at Lily in Montecito.
